THE BEAUTY OF GOD – Saint Agnes Catholic Church

The doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity is the foundation of our Christian faith. It reveals about the essence of God’s being. God is an eternal communion of love. The Holy Trinity is a community of love: God the Father is the lover, God the Son is the beloved and God the Holy Spirit is the shared love. That is the beauty of God. We believe in one God in three Persons and all are equal. The three Persons refer to three roles pointing to the separate sources of action of God: God the Father is the Creator, God the Son is the Redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit is the Sanctifier. The Holy Trinity is a mystery not to be solved but to be adored, worshipped and contemplated. We can know about God but there is also a great deal about Him that we don’t know and we can never know. He is totally Other, but always available, present to all and at every moment of time. Jesus is Emmanuel, God is with us. It is the initiative of God to reveal Himself to us because the business of God is finding us. The Holy Trinity is the icon of hospitality because God takes the risk of creating us so that we participate in His life. God does not need us yet He wants us to share His love with us. We belong to the Holy Trinity because we are created in His likeness and image. We are called to reveal God to the world by loving one another (John 13:35). Jesus said that all will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. In baptism we are inserted into the dynamics of the Trinitarian life. Saint Paul said that the love of God is poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us (Romans 5:5). What is our response to this enormous and huge gift and privilege participating in the divine life of the Holy Trinity? We are called to say yes to the Holy Trinity. We are called to be the physical presence of Christ in our tormented world. Our ultimate goal is perfect union with God and it is only possible through the grace of the Holy Spirit who is the agent of rebirth, regeneration, new life and transformation. He alone can make us beautiful inside and out.
