Pastor Romeo Velos – MIRACLE OF LOVE

Jesus said, “For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink!” These are strong words from Jesus that scandalized and shocked the Jews. They quarreled among themselves and asked, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus did not change His words. He said, “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you!” He reveals God’s extravagant love by dying on the Cross. He pays the price for our salvation. This is the gift of Himself. Jesus is the greatest gift of the Father to us because God knows that He alone can satisfy us. We are always hungry and thirsty. We are lost, wounded and broken. We are never satisfied with the things in this world. Man does not live on bread alone but by the Words that come from the mouth of God. There is much more to life than merely satisfying physical hunger. St. Augustine said that our hearts are restless until they find rest in you. Lord, you created us only for you. That is why God sent Jesus to the world so that all things might be restored to God. When we eat His flesh, we are never hungry. This is the only way to be totally free and fully alive. In Jesus, we receive the wisdom of God and understand the true meaning and purpose of life. Jesus is the summit of divine wisdom, the intelligence of God. Wisdom is grounded in humble service to God so that we see things from the perspective of God. Jesus as the bread of life is the miracle of love giving His all and loving to the end so that we become broken bread to others. The miracle of love requires the grace of faith from the Holy Spirit so that we are able to find God in all things and all things in God. This is the power of faith. It empowers us to choose selflessness over selfishness, sharing rather than hoarding, giving rather than receiving, light over darkness and life over death. Jesus is the greatest gift of the Father to us so that we become gifts to others.
