Jesus is the perfect revelation of God’s love. He is the sign par excellence of the invisible God. He speaks and acts in the person of the one true God. Hence, He is the New Temple, the new place of encounter with God. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He is the bridge between God and man. In Him we have full access to God. And He taught His disciples how to worship God. He said that true worship is to worship God in Spirit and in truth. To worship in Spirit is to worship from the heart. God revealed to Jeremiah that He is going to create new heart and that is, from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh. To have a heart of flesh is to have a teachable heart which means willingness to learn to give all and to love to the end. This is fulfilled in Jesus who gave His all on the Cross and who loved us to the end. To worship in truth is to worship God with the very lives we live. It is to love with an undivided heart because that is how God loves us with an undivided love. It is to become persons of integrity because salvation is wholeness, completeness, integrity. This requires grace from the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is the agent of new life, rebirth and new creation. This is important in our Christian life because Christian life is not mere religiosity. It involves integrity of motivation and behavior. It is to imitate the love of Jesus who shows singlemindedness in His mission to save us and who is radically obedient to the Father to reveal God’s extravagant and undivided love to the world. True worship therefore is to allow God to mold us and to use us for the well being of others.
