Merry Christmas!
During this Christmas season we are reminded that the Lord is with us. We are called to cry out with joy and gladness for among us, is the great and Holy One of Israel. He is with us to restore wholeness to our fallen world and bring healing to our wounded humanity. He rejoices over us with gladness and renews us in His love. He is like a crazy Lord who sings joyfully and dance gracefully on account of the ones He loves. He is pazzo d’amore with us, crazy in love with us. He is our Mighty Savior and the Lord of the dance. In fact, the deepest joy originates in the heart of God and it is He who brings that joy to us. In any kind of dancing, timing is crucial. Sin is bad dancing and bad timing that gets us into the wrong direction. Sin is bad dancing like acting where we should not have done and not acting where we should have done. Saint Paul declares that joy is the fruit of kindness and prayer and does not refer to good emotions and feelings because they come and go. Joy requires us to enter into the dance of God and learn it from within. During this Advent season we are presented with the great figure of John the Baptist preparing the way of the Lord. We remember that when John was still in the womb of his mother Elizabeth, he danced with joy when he heard the greetings of Mary. This reminds us of David who danced with reckless abandon in front of the Ark of the Covenant. John is the new David who danced with joy in front of Mary, the New Ark of the Covenant. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the mighty Savior, the Lord of the dance, we are called to welcome Him because He is the reason of the season. He comes to bring freedom, justice, peace and love to us not only in the future but here and now. We are called to learn right living, fairness, justice and compassion so that we are able to dance with Jesus, the dance of selfless and unconditional love. Merry Christmas to all!
